The Town of Port Hedland will develop an action plan to demonstrate progress on key areas that are a priority for the Hedland community.
The Town ran its second MARKYT Community Scorecard earlier this year to gather community feedback on its performance.
Town of Port Hedland Mayor Peter Carter said the feedback was crucial to the Town understanding how it could best deliver services and support.
“Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts with us. We have gathered so much really useful information that helps us determine our priorities,” Mayor Carter said.
“We were pleased to see where our community thinks we are doing well, including delivering key services like our libraries, and how we prepare for natural disasters.
“Our community also thinks we’re doing better in areas like services and facilities for families and children, including our youth programs."
Mayor Carter said the scorecard shone a spotlight on key areas where the Hedland community wanted to see more focus from the Town.
“This feedback will drive the development of the Spotlight On action plan which clearly sets out our three focus areas; leadership, advocacy and liveability.
“Leadership is about the Council coming together as a team and delivering a clear vision to the community. Advocacy is about us lobbying State and Federal Government for increased resourcing in key areas and liveability is about making Hedland more attractive and liveable.
“We are committed to showing the Hedland community that we are making tangible progress in these three areas as a priority. We will be confirming the action plan and providing regular updates throughout 2024.”
