Illegal Camping
A person may camp for up to 24 hours in a caravan or other vehicle on a roadside rest area or on road reserves in an emergency. A person may also camp up to 3 nights in any period of 28 days on land which he or she owns or has the legal right to occupy, and may camp for longer than 3 nights on such land if he or she has written approval from the Local Authority. The approval is for 3 months in any 12 month period.
A person may also camp in a caravan with the written approval of the local Authority for a period of up to 12 months where that person has the legal right to occupy the land whilst they possess a current building license.
