Hamilton Road Upgrade and Reconstruction Project

The Town of Port Hedland will commence the Hamilton Road Upgrade Project on October 12th, 2026.

The project was released for tender in May 2026, with a preferred contractor appointed at the August 2026 Ordinary Council Meeting.

The upgrade includes:

  • Construction of two new roundabouts
  • Changes to the existing road layout
  • Landscaping and irrigation improvements
  • Relocation of street lighting where required

These works will improve access to the future Aquatic Centre, Wanangkura Stadium and Kevin Scott Oval while enhancing road safety, traffic flow and reducing congestion during peak periods.

Landscaping improvements will create a consistent look throughout the project area from Hudson Way to Forrest Circle and connect with previous streetscape upgrades.

Please refer to the aerial view above for the project work area.

Hamilton Road will remain open throughout construction with traffic management measures implemented throughout the project, including reduced speed limits.

Works are expected to take approximately 10 months, subject to weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances.
