Dog Attacks & Aggressive Behaviour
The Dog Act 1976 classifies a dog attack as:
- Rushing or harassing people or animals
- Biting or causing injury
- Tearing clothing or damaging property
- Behaving in a way that causes fear of injury
Dog owners may face serious fines for attacks or aggressive behaviour.
If you see a dog behaving aggressively or wandering loose, please report it to Ranger Services at (08) 9158 9300.
Barking Dogs
Excessive barking is a public nuisance. Please be mindful of your neighbours–legal penalties apply for ongoing disturbances.
Dog Exercise Areas
Enjoy our designated off-leash dog zones:
- Spoil Bank, Port Hedland (past the shipping containers)
- McGregor Street Reserve, Port Hedland
- Marquee Park, South Hedland
Scoop the Poop!
It’s your responsibility to clean up after your dog in public spaces. Dog waste spreads disease and causes public health issues. Please carry bags and dispose of droppings properly.
Feral Cats
Please note, cat trapping equipment from the Town is currently unavailable. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Parasite and Disease Prevention
Vaccinate your pet and take precautions against tapeworms and parasites to keep them healthy.
