General Enquiry
Caravan Parks and Camping Grounds
A caravan park is land where caravans and camps are located for habitation. A camping ground allows only tents or camps (not caravans).
All new or temporary caravan parks and camping grounds require approval from the Town’s Environmental Health Officers (EHOs). Licensed sites are subject to regular compliance inspections to ensure they meet the relevant health and safety standards.
Lodging Houses and Public Accommodation
A lodging house includes any premises (temporary or permanent) used to accommodate more than six people, such as motels, hotels, or mining camps.
New lodging house applications must be submitted to the Town’s Environmental Health department for approval. Routine inspections ensure compliance with the Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1911.
Skin Penetration and Beauty Services
Skin penetration procedures involve breaking the skin or mucous membrane, and include:
- High-risk procedures: tattooing, skin or dry needling, cosmetic tattooing, acupuncture, body and ear piercing
- Low-risk procedures: waxing, manicures, pedicures
All skin penetration premises, including home-based businesses, must be assessed and approved by the Town’s Environmental Health team. Guidelines apply to home-based services to ensure safety and hygiene. EHOs conduct regular inspections under the Health (Skin Penetration Procedure) Regulations 1998.
