What Services are available?
Join the Libraries and Borrow Items |
- Membership is free and you can join online.
- You'll then be able to borrow up to 10 physical items at a time for 3 weeks (we have a large range of books, DVDs, magazines, audiobooks and music CDs). In addition, you'll also be able to borrow ebooks, eaudio items and emagazines. You also have access to free videostreaming of movies and documentaries.
- Please bring your membership card each time you would like to borrow or reserve items.
- If we don't have the item you want, we will try to get it from another public library in WA for you. You can fill out an Inter Library Loan Request (you'll need to log in first).
- If you'd like to suggest a purchase for the libraries, you're welcome to do this via our library catalogue (you'll need to log in first).

- Printing, photocopying, scanning, faxing and laminating services.
- Bill payments for a range of Town of Port Hedland services between 10am - 4pm Monday to Friday.

Click & Collect |
- We happy to be able to continue our Click & Collect service for borrowing physical items (in addition to online) by reserving items and coming and collecting them when you're notified that they are available for collection. Full details of the service are available via the Click & Collect FAQ and help guide.
- You can choose which library to collect from as you place your reservation.
- You can also phone us on 9158 9373 or email sthlib@porthedland.wa.gov.au for help with the service.

HouseBound Delivery |
- We're now offering a Homebound service to our older and eligible vulnerable library members.
- The service focuses on ensuring our older library members and those with illness (besides COVID-19) or disability and who are unable to get to the libraries.

- Check out Story Box Library which allows children to view stories by authors and illustrators, being read aloud by fantastic, predominantly Australian and New Zealand storytellers
- Busy Things for children is an online learning resource for children. It includes activities across a range of subject areas including maths, science, art and music
- We've also included some crafts you might like to do with your children
- If you're into puzzles, you can access Clue Detective Puzzle Agency for crosswords and Sudoku as well as do online jigsaws of photos from our Local History collection

‘There is a book inside of everyone’
Have you ever wanted to write your story but unsure where to start?
Join Julie Arif as she guides you through the writing process including characterization, plot, setting and dialogue.
Julie Arif is a local historian and author of numerous publications including Jack of all Trades, Corunna Downs, and South Hedland.
The workshop is held over four sessions, from 1.00pm-3.00pm

Languages Other Than English (LOTE)
Did you know that your library has books in many different languages for young and old to enjoy?
South Hedland Library offers bilingual picture books for the young: you can read to your kids in different languages or in their home language.
For adults, South Hedland Library has books in Chinese, Korean, Filipino/Tagalog, Indonesian, Thai, Afrikaans and Malay language, to name just a few.
Remember, we can always request items in your home language.
