Road Upgrade Project

Hamilton Road Phase 1

Project Overview

Works will soon commence on upgrading Hamilton Road to support the delivery of key infrastructure projects, including:

  • Development of a new retail and dining district;
  • Construction of a new Aquatic Centre; and
  • Improving accessibility to Wanangkura Stadium and Kevin Scott Oval.

To minimise disruptions to the community, construction has been divided into 3 phases. The first phase is scheduled to commence in late September 2026, with all works expected to be completed within 12 months.

Roads & Footpaths

Road and footpath accessibility will be maintained throughout construction, however there will be increased congestion during peak hours with Hamilton Road dropping from a dual carriageway to a single carriageway in some sections, and detours affecting foot traffic on both sides of the road.

Temporary traffic management measures will be implemented for continued community safety for the duration of works.

Local Properties & Facilities

Temporary access ramps and other measures will be implemented where required to ensure safe and convenient access to adjacent properties and facilities is maintained.

Dust & Noise

Measures to minimise dust and noise will be implemented on site, however there may be intermittent increases in dust, noise, and vibration while works are ongoing.

Approved construction hours are limited to Monday-Saturday, from 7am-7pm, and no works will be conducted on Sundays or Public Holidays
