Are you an early childhood education and care ('ECEC') provider looking for support with a project aimed at attracting and retaining regional childcare workers? Are you considering applying for grants? We want to help you! 

The Town of Port Hedland's ('Town') Annual Community Childcare Grant is now closed for applications.

This grant is supported by the Department of Communities and designed to enhance support for current ECEC staffing and attract new educators to the area.

The Town aims to achieve this through an accessible grant program and provides personalised support to local ECEC providers for the duration of the process.

There is a total funding pool of $27,500 available for this Community Childcare Grant - maximum limit increased up to $7,500 per application.

Criteria:

The criteria are the same a previous rounds and funding will cover the following areas:

  • Subsidised accommodation (rental properties only)
  • Intrastate travel relevant to the project
  • Relocation packages
  • Training and professional development
  • Support for educators to complete their practicums (including wages for relief staff)
  • Purchase of small capital items to support online learning
  • Workshops, seminars and talks to recruit prospective educators
  • Purchase of equipment required to deliver FDC (FDC only)

Important Dates:

This will be a very quick round with the below timeline:

  • Applications will be open for just over one month - commencing 24 February 2025 and closing 4 April 2025 (extended from 23 March 2025)
  • Decisions will be made within 3 weeks of the closing date
  • For successful applicants, the activity is to be completed by 31 July 2025 and the grant acquitted by 31 August 2025
