The Ship to Shore Community Fun Run returns to Hedland this August.
The Town of Port Hedland along with the Pilbara Ports Authority and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries have partnered up for a second year to deliver this free, family friendly event, suitable for all fitness levels and ages.
The 6km fun run, will start from Cemetery Beach Park at 7.30am on Saturday, 12 August. Participants who wish to take things a little easier can complete the 3km half-course.
After the run, there will be range of activities and attractions at Cemetery Beach Park for the whole family, including yoga by the beach, market stalls, and a mini-run for children.
The first 250 people to sign up on the Town website will also receive a limited-edition running shirt.
Pilbara Ports General Manager Marine, Phil Christy, said that they were pleased to be partnering in the delivery of this event.
“We are proud to be part of the communities in which we operate, and this is a great opportunity to bring the Port Hedland community together.” Mr Christy said.
“This is a family friendly event which is open to all fitness levels, and I encourage everyone to register and come along on the day.”
Town of Port Hedland Mayor Peter Carter said the Town was pleased to deliver events which added vibrancy and built a sense of community.
“Port Hedland is a great place to live and work, and events like this showcase the great spirit of our community,” Mr Carter said.
“August is a beautiful time of year in the Pilbara and this run will showcase our iconic coastline and shipping channel.”
“We’re looking forward to this exciting event and hope to see a significant turnout from locals.”
