Put your hand up to serve the community on Council

Community members are advised that candidate nominations for the upcoming Town of Port Hedland Local Government Extraordinary Election open on Wednesday 6 April 2022 and close 4pm Wednesday 13 April 2022.The Local Government Extraordinary Election will be held on Friday 20 May 2022 to fill the following vacancy:

District    1 Councillor      Term to expire: 21 October 2023

Candidate nominations must be lodged with the Returning Officer by arrangement between Wednesday 6 April and 4pm Wednesday 13 April; or between 2pm and 4pm Wednesday 13 April 2022 (close of nominations) at the Town of Port Hedland Civic Centre.Prior to nominating, every candidate must have completed the online course titled Induction for prospective candidates, which is available via www.dlgsc.wa.gov.au.Mayor Peter Carter encouraged community members to consider nominating as a candidate.“Are you interested in serving your community? Becoming an Elected Member means you can represent the Hedland community in chambers, shaping the strategic direction the Town takes.The Western Australian Electoral Commission has developed an online system called Nomination Builder to assist candidates to complete their nomination, which can be accessed via www.elections.wa.gov.au.”
