The Town of Port Hedland often develops plans and strategies that set the framework for our future work. In addition, we often need community feedback on ideas we have for new buildings or projects. You'll find the topics we are currently seeking feedback on below.

TURTLE NESTING HABITAT PROTECTION - VEHICLE AND DOG RESTRICTIONS

The Town of Port Hedland is calling on the community to have a say on an important new proposal aimed at protecting our local flatback turtle population. 

As we enter another turtle nesting season, the Town is proposing the two key measures:

  1. Permanently banning driving on Spoilbank (Eastern reserve) 
  2. Seasonal ban (November - March) on dogs from turtle nesting beaches
