Published on Monday, 28 October 2019 at 4:03:09 PM

The interactive live dance show, A Night Out! is coming to the Matt Dann Theatre and Cinema this November for two evenings, one a workshop and the other a performance.

Five of Western Australia’s most acclaimed dancers will take the audience on a journey through dance history, from the Charleston to hip-hop.

On Wednesday 13 November 6pm, a pre-show workshop will give participants the chance to get involved and learn moves from 100 years of dance choreography. On Thursday 14 November 7pm, the professional live show will take place, capped off with a social dance for audience members.

The workshop encourages participants to explore the vast styles of dance which have drawn people together on the dance floor for generations.

Natalie Allen is an award winning West Australian Academy of Performing Arts graduate dancer and choreographer, creating the show with fellow dancers Kynan Hughes, Rachel Ogle, Alexander Perozzi and Imanual Dado.

Hon. Commissioner Fred Riebeling said the Matt Dann Theatre and Cinema continued to nurture Hedland’s performing arts scene.

“A Night Out invites the audience to experience the history of dance first-hand, breaking down the barrier between performance and observation.

“At the pre-show workshop, you’ll learn moves from genres such as waltz, ballet, Charleston, tango, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary dance and more.

“At the performance, not only can you watch a highly talented group of professional dancers, you can join them on stage for the grand-finale.

“Both nights are suitable for ages 10 to 70 plus-years old, with no dance experience necessary, just bring along your love of dance!

“If you’d prefer not to join the dancers on stage, you can still sit back and enjoy the show.

“I hope as many people as possible get to experience the vibrancy and flair that is A Night Out!”
