Published on Friday, 1 October 2021 at 2:50:13 PM

Community members are invited to submit nominations in the 2022 Community Citizen of the Year Awards, recognising individuals and organisations making notable contributions to the Hedland Community.

The Hedland Awards are made up of three categories:

  • Community Citizen of the Year
  • Young Community Citizen of the Year (under 25 years of age)
  • Active Citizenship (Group or Event)

Nominations can be made for contributions to education, health, fundraising, voluntary services, business, sports, arts, the environment, social inclusion, or any other area that enhances the wellbeing of the community.

We encourage people from diverse backgrounds to consider nominating, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, young people, those living with disabilities and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

CEO Carl Askew encouraged local residents to take the time and nominate for the awards.

“The Hedland community is strong and at the heart of the community, are those working tirelessly behind the scenes to make Hedland a better place.

“It is important we acknowledge these people and ensure they garner the recognition they deserve.

“The winners of the awards will be announced on Australia Day in 2022 and each award winner will receive a $1000 cash prize.”

Nominations for the 2022 Community Citizen of the Year Awards close on 31 October 2021 and can be submitted at www.citizenshipawards.com.au/nominate

The Port Hedland awards are made possible by Horizon Power and Roy Hill.
