Published on Tuesday, 22 October 2019 at 4:35:12 PM

The Town of Port Hedland will host a community open day on Saturday 2 November to unveil a draft masterplan for the proposed Port Hedland Marina and Waterfront development on the Spoilbank.

Representatives from the Town of Port Hedland, Development WA (formerly LandCorp), Pilbara Development Commission, Taylor Burrell Barnett Planning and the Department of Transport will attend to field questions and take feedback on the draft plans.

The Marina and Waterfront Masterplan is being drafted following community and stakeholder input at workshops in September.

Hon. Commissioner Fred Riebeling said he was looking forward to sharing the draft plans with the wider community at the open day and encouraged anyone interested in the development to come along.

“This is a great opportunity for members of the community to come and chat with the numerous Government agencies and planning consultants who are working with the Town to get this important project off the ground.

“The draft masterplan will outline recreational spaces, infrastructure and amenities which will transform the Spoilbank into a hub of economic and communal activity.

“This is a much-anticipated and priority project for the community which is being supported by our State Government counterparts.

"I’d like to also thank the members of the Spoilbank Community Reference Group who have steered this project since its infancy.”

The community open day will be held on Saturday 2 November, 11:00am – 3:00pm at the Gratwick Hall, Civic Centre.

If you are unable to attend the open day, a draft masterplan will be published on the Town of Port Hedland website following the event.  Click here for more information.
