Community Session on First Major Reform of Local Government Act in 23 Years

Published on Wednesday, 7 November 2018 at 5:04:09 PM

Hedland residents and community organisations are urged to have their say as part of the McGowan Government’s push to update the Local Government Act 1995.

On Tuesday, 13 November from 5pm to 7pm, the community is invited to attend an interactive information session in the Civic Centre Chambers.

The Local Government Act 1995 is an act of the Western Australian Parliament which lays down the powers of Local Government Authorities in WA.

Session Attendees will have the opportunity to express their views on what they believe is important for the future of Local Government in Hedland.

Areas of discussion may include whether local government elections should be compulsory, whether charities should pay rates and the extent to which the Town is responsible for community engagement.

It is also a chance to share any ideas you may have on how to innovate the way Local Government Services are delivered.
