Not-for-profit organisations are invited to apply for the Town’s Community Development Grant, designed to fund projects that respond to local issues in Hedland up to the value of $10,000.

The objectives of the grant are to increase community identity, connections and social inclusion, build innovative and effective responses to emerging community needs and social issues and overall increase skills, knowledge and understanding to respond to community needs.

Registered not-for-profit and incorporated (under Associations Incorporation Act 2015) or auspiced by an incorporate association based in the local government area, undertaking an activity that is not duplicating an existing service or program are some of the criteria for application eligibility.

Grant funds may be used on equipment and venue hire, publication costs, resource materials, publicity, communications and marketing costs, facilitation or other workshop related costs, public liability insurance costs, volunteer support costs or travel and accommodation which benefits Port Hedland community members or organisations.

Mayor Peter Carter encouraged local organisations to apply for the grant.

“Bring your big ideas to life with the Town’s Community Development Grant, with funding up to $10,000 available to empower your not-for-profit organisation to make a difference in the local community.

“Perhaps you’ve wanted to launch a new website or media platform, or have an innovative idea to develop an event or program to connect the community: now is the time to make your ideas a reality.

“The Town is committed to supporting not-for-profit organisations making a difference in Hedland, recognising the value of grassroots engagement.”
