Applications for the Town’s Seed Funding Grant open Wednesday 1 July, giving eligible not-for-profit organisations the opportunity to apply for up to $1,000 in funding.
The objectives of the grant are to encourage services and participation in new civic and community activities in the Port Hedland LGA, as well as to build the capacity and resilience of newly established groups or organisations.
Funding covers operational costs such as telecommunications, equipment, accounting, marketing and IT requirements, governance, utilities and rates, room and office hire and business strategic planning. Meals, staffing and activities covered by other grants are not covered.
Hon. Commissioner Fred Riebeling AM JP encouraged new not-for-profit organisations to consider how additional funding could assist their operations.
“The Town’s Seed Funding Grant seeks to grow emerging not-for-profits, allowing them to branch out and make a difference in the local community.
“Particularly with the recent economic hardship faced by organisations as a result of COVID-19 restrictions, now is a prime opportunity to gain financial assistance where it’s needed most.
“Funding can be used for hiring costs, utilities and rates, areas which are in some instances not covered by other grant categories.
“This funding is for emerging not-for-profit organisations including new clubs, groups and programs, giving people the opportunity to reinvigorate a new chapter of local community engagement."
