National 'Secure Your Home' Day

Published on Friday, 1 September 2023 at 12:18:54 PM

Neighbourhood Watch Australasia (NHWA) is launching the inaugural National Secure Your Home Day, 23-24 September, to improve the safety of homes, families and communities across Australia!

National Secure Your Home Day is a dedicated time to encourage householders to conduct a ‘home health check’ to improve home security, ‘target-harden’ the home, and reduce the risk of crime.

National Secure Your Home Day is part of the Safer Australia For Everyone (SAFE) program, a wider safety initiative in collaboration with The University of Queensland.

In the past year an average of 2% of Australian households experienced break-ins, with an estimated additional 2% encountering attempted break-ins. There was also an increase in break-ins related to motor vehicle theft due to stolen car keys according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

To participate in National Secure Your Home Day, register now at: https://secureyourhomeday.com.au/

Participants will receive a National Secure Your Home Day Kit, including a comprehensive Home Security Checklist, valuable information, tips on proactive security measures, and updates on National Secure Your Home Day community events in their area.

All registrants will also go into the draw to win a $3,000 Crimsafe voucher!

Kids can also showcase their creativity and enter the National Secure Your Home Day drawing and colouring competition, with prizes.

Neighbourhood Watch and community groups are encouraged to hold an event during the National Secure Your Home Day weekend, for neighbours to get together and meet each other.

By actively participating in National Secure Your Home Day, you contribute to creating a safer home, as well as building community resilience.
