Have your say on future public health needs in Hedland

Published on Friday, 8 March 2024 at 9:20:41 AM

Hedland residents have an opportunity to help shape future health and well-being outcomes as the Town of Port Hedland establishes a Public Health Plan.

The Town has today launched a Public Health Survey, which aims to gather information about specific health and well-being needs, services, and challenges facing our community.

Findings from the survey will provide vital insights for the development of the five-year Public Health Plan.

The Plan will then guide the Town on these action areas while placing the Town in an advocacy position to gain support and help shape future health policies, services and programs.

Mayor Peter Carter said the feedback from the survey would help the Town develop a comprehensive strategy and commitment to promoting the health and well-being of all residents, setting a roadmap for collaborative action.

“As the needs and challenges facing our community change, so too must our approach to public health,” he said.

“The Town’s Public Health Plan will represent a forward-thinking proposal that addresses emerging health priorities while building on the strengths of existing programs and services.

“The Town is committed to creating a thriving, resilient, and inclusive community, where health and wellbeing are at the forefront of our future planning.

“I encourage all residents to have their say and get involved. We recognise that good health is essential to maintaining a vibrant community and will value our community’s input.”

Mayor Carter said the Town had an opportunity to learn from past experiences and be guided by expert recommendations for continuous improvement of public health initiatives.

“Through this survey, we seek to engage with individuals from all walks of life, ensuring that every voice is heard, and every perspective is valued,” he said.
