Ever wondered what sporting clubs or recreation activities were available in Hedland, but didn’t know where to start?

The Town of Port Hedland may have the answer for you, with the inaugural Hedland Sports+Rec Expo to be held at Kevin Scott Oval in South Hedland on Friday, 10 March from 4:00-7:00pm.

Mayor Peter Carter said the Town was committed to promoting positive health and wellbeing outcomes in the Hedland community, particularly for youth.

"There are so many sport and recreation options in Hedland so to have many of them showcased in one Expo is a terrific way to see what is on offer,” Mayor Carter said.

“Hedland has historically been transient in nature and one of the best connectors for people is through sporting clubs and organisations.

“This is a great way for clubs to connect with new members and volunteers.”

Clubs will be encouraged to organise have-a-try sessions for juniors while there will also be information stands and food vendors. Popular sports include soccer, netball, footy, hockey, little athletics, BMX and kart racing.

The expo is a free, all-ages event, however there will be activities specifically designed for younger children. To participate, you will need to register you child online or at the registration desk on the day. Online registrations are encouraged at www.porthedland.wa.gov.au

The Town is partnering with the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries to deliver the Hedland Sports+Rec Expo.
