ANZAC Day Driveway Dawn Service
Past Event
You're invited to the ANZAC Day Driveway Dawn Service
Lest We Forget. These powerful words bring Australia together annually for ANZAC Day, a time of respect and commemoration for those who have fallen defending our freedoms.
COVID-19 restrictions have meant traditional Dawn Services have been cancelled across Australian communities. However, this shouldn’t stop people from marking this important day.
We’re inviting all Hedland residents to participate in a ‘Driveway Dawn Service.’ At 6am Saturday 25 April, simply stand at your driveway, balcony or patio and tune in to the radio or Facebook for one minute’s silence. This will then be followed by The Ode and The Last Post.
Following the service, why not have a traditional gunfire breakfast with your household? This is an ANZAC Day tradition that honours the dead and unites the living.
You can stream the Dawn Service online from 5:30 am on ABC channels. (please check local listings)
If your family wish to produce home-made poppies and floral tributes, we encourage you to place these on your fence.
