Marapikurrinya Park pop-up's | Expression of interest
The Marapikurrinya Park pop-up's are located in the West End's Marapikurrinya Park, adjacent to the world's largest bulk exporting port. The Town of Port Hedland is currently seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from a suitably experienced food and beverage vendor to take over the short-term incubator pop-up.
Through the EOI process, the Town is seeking interest from eligible Respondents to:
- Provide high quality and creative food and beverage offering in the specified location at Marapikurrinya Park, Port Hedland.
- Provide a high level of service to the community
- Introduce a creative and unique offer taking inspiration from the area and market demands.
- Consider the relevant stakeholders in the area and potential customers to build and deliver on a commercial venture that benefits both the operator and the surrounding community.

Site inspection
Attendance at a mandatory site inspection on the 3 December 2025 is required as part of this EOI process. More info are found in the respective documents.

Frequently asked questions
Question 1: The information states an annual licence fee of around $6,500, is there an additional lease fee on top of this? If so, what is the amount?
Answer: The Licence Fee of $6,540 / annum is the Lease Fee. The successful applicant is responsible for electricity, gas, waste disposal expenses.
Question 2: What is the cost to trade in this location?
Answer: As per the EOI and Licence Agreement, the fee is $6,540 / annum plus utilities.
Question 3: Is this trading weekly or just only during market events?
Answer: The preferred operating hours and days are included in the EOI.
Question 4: Will we have exclusive use of one container, or will it be shared with another operator?
Answer: The successful applicant will have sole use of the pop-up incubator for the licence period.
Question 5: Will we trade from the same pop up incubator throughout the lease period, or does it change?
Answer: The successful applicant will have sole use of the same pop-up incubator for the entire lease period.
Question 6: Does the site have internet access, or is there reliable mobile signal coverage?
Answer: Internet access is the responsibility of the tenant.
Question 7: Is there any historical data on visitor numbers during peak periods?
Answer: The Town does not currently hold historical data specific to this area.
Question 8: Can we obtain keys to inspect the equipment inside the incubator?
Answer: The Town will conduct a mandatary inspection of the pop-up incubator at 9.00 am, Wednesday, 3rd December 2025. If this date is not suitable, the Town will facilitate an inspection at a mutually convenient time prior to the EOI closing date.
Question 9: Is it possible to have rolling three-month contracts instead of a six-month term?
Answer: The initial lease period is 6 months, renewable in 6-month increments up to a maximum of 2 years.
Question 10: We are committed to operating on a fixed schedule and will strictly adhere to the agreed timetable. However, we take a two-month holiday every December and January. In this case, are we still eligible to apply?
Answer: Yes, you are still eligible to apply. Applicants should state their intended operating times as part of their response. Should an applicant close for a period during the licence term, the applicant will still be required to pay the licence fee for that period.
Question 11: We do not currently have an ABN, can we apply and provide this after?
Answer: Yes, your business is still eligible to apply, provided you hold or have ability to obtain the relevant approvals, permits and insurances prior to signing the licence agreement.
Please note, the successful applicant will be required to sign the licence agreement within one month of notification and is expected to be operational within six weeks of notification.
