South Hedland Library will be hosting an outdoor story time 'Under the Yarning Tree' on the third Wednesday of each month.

There will be singing, yarning, drawing, reading and playing to promote children's literacy development, with the program being supported by Better Beginnings and State Library of WA.

The first of eight sessions is on 15 March .

This month's presenter is Silvia Lockyer, who is a mother and grandmother, and lives in Port Hedland as a community health advocate. Sylvia loves connecting stories with people, places and events.

Sylvia's story time will explore Little Bird's Day by Sally Morgan.

The session will be held from 9:30am - 11:30am and is suited to children aged between 0-5 years. The sessions are free and no bookings are required.
