More than 500 people came together over the weekend for the second annual Hedland Sustainable Living Show Day, celebrating local efforts to build a greener, more sustainable future.
Hosted and organised by Care for Hedland Environmental Association, the event showcased the growing community interest in sustainable living, supported by key sponsors and partners including De Grey Mining, BHP, Rio Tinto, Fortescue, Pilbara Ports, and the Town of Port Hedland.
Held at the Civic Centre Gardens, the Show Day featured 11 expert guest speakers and 15 interactive stalls offering eco-friendly products, informative displays, and practical demonstrations. Attendees were treated to goodie bags, educational talks, and hands-on activities designed to inspire everyday action on sustainability.
In the lead-up to the event, Care for Hedland visited local schools and early learning centres, engaging with 371 children and adults through tailored outreach. Combined with 503 attendees at the main event, the 2025 Show Day achieved a total reach of 874 people across the Hedland community.
Town of Port Hedland staff were proud and eager to contribute to the day, setting up information stalls and sharing insights on sustainable living practices. The Town extends its sincere thanks to all volunteers, speakers, and supporters who made the day a success.
Town of Port Hedland Mayor Peter Carter said the event highlighted the strength of community collaboration.
“The Hedland Sustainable Living Show Day is a fantastic example of what we can achieve when community, industry, and local government come together to inspire change.”
“The Town is proud to support events that empower residents with knowledge and tools to reduce their environmental impact, and is committed to creating a thriving, resilient, and inclusive community” Mayor Carter said.
The event reflects a growing local commitment to environmental responsibility, underpinned by strong partnerships and community spirit.
