The Town of Port Hedland is proud to join the state-wide celebration of Youth Week 2025, recognising the positive contributions our young people bring to communities across WA, including Hedland.

This year’s theme, ‘Our Threads, This Place, Your Moment’, highlights the importance of connection to place, to community, and to self, and encourages young people to embrace the moment and have their voices heard.

Youth Week in Hedland will see various activities kick off from Thursday 10 April to Thursday 17 April, including movie screenings, laser tag and an adventure day.

With more than 20 percent of Hedland’s population aged between 5 and 19 years, the Town is committed to creating opportunities that empower young people and help shape the future of our community.

Mayor Peter Carter said Youth Week was an important opportunity to recognise the achievements, energy and passion of Hedland’s younger generation.

“Youth Week is a time to celebrate our young people and all they bring to our community.”

"This year’s theme is a powerful reminder that young people aren’t just the future of Hedland - they are shaping and strengthening the community right now."

“We are proud to support spaces like the JD Hardie Youth and Community Hub, which continues to thrive as a safe and welcoming place for young people to connect, grow, and lead.” Mayor Peter Carter said.

The Town’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC) has played a key role in shaping Youth Week celebrations, providing vital advice on programs and services that matter most to local youth, ensuring the events hosted will resonate with their peers.
