What a night to remember! On Friday, August 22, the Sunset Food Markets transformed Marapikurrinya Park into a vibrant celebration of Hedland’s spirit, powered by our amazing volunteers who make our community truly special. From Hedland’s dedicated firefighters and ambulance officers to the coaches inspiring our kids, the locals grilling sausages at fundraisers, and those keeping our public spaces spotless, these volunteers are the heart of Hedland, and the Sunset Food Markets was a night to honour them.
Proudly brought to you by the Town of Port Hedland and BHP, with the event managed by PPP Events, the Sunset Food Markets are a beloved cornerstone of our community. This cherished event series brings people together, showcasing the joy and connection that make Hedland so special.
Under those twinkly festoon lights, over 1,000 of you joined us for the Volunteer Week celebration. The atmosphere was buzzing with local food vendors, kids enjoying the activities, local musicians performing all evening and the market bar serving up refreshing drinks as the ships sailed by in the port.
A huge shout out to the 82 registered volunteers who enjoyed a well-deserved free meal and drink, a small gesture of our gratitude for everything you do in our community!
The next Sunset Food Markets will take place on Friday, 5 September at Marapikurrinya Park from 5:00pm.
