Surge in wandering dogs

Published on Thursday, 15 May 2025 at 3:14:37 PM

The Town is urging residents to report wandering dogs promptly, following a recent surge in sightings across the area.

The Town’s Rangers are here to help and should be the first point of call.

Reporting unaccompanied dogs is vital to keeping both our community and the animals safe. When notified, Rangers can check if the dog is registered or microchipped and work quickly to return it to its rightful owner.

If you see a dog on its own, please do not approach it. Instead, contact our Rangers immediately.

To report a wandering dog, please call the Town’s Rangers on 08 9158 9300.

This is also a timely reminder for pet owners: Your dog is your responsibility.

Help prevent escapes by ensuring your home is secure, walking your dog on a lead, and keeping registration and microchip details up to date.

Let’s work together to keep our town safe and support responsible pet ownership.
