Hedlanders will get a rare opportunity to get up-close to a Supercars team when Matt Stone Racing roars into town next week.
The Town is supporting MGM Bulk and Bruce Rock Engineering to bring the Matt Stone team – including driver Cameron Hill – for a community event at Spoilbank Marina on Thursday 12 June.
The team is travelling from Perth, where it will compete in this weekend’s round at Wannaroo Raceway, to Darwin for the next round at Hidden Valley.
Mayor Peter Carter encouraged the community to make the most of the opportunity to mingle with the Supercars’ stars.
“Given how remote we are here in the Pilbara, it is not often we get the chance to host an event like this,” Mayor Carter said.
“This is your chance to mingle and get photos with the cars as well as chat to Cameron and team.
“We know cars and motorsport are popular in our community, so you won’t want to miss the chance to check out the Gen3 Camaros that can get up to almost 300km an hour!”
There will be free bacon and egg rolls available as well as coffee for sale at the community event from 9:00am-11:00am at Spoilbank Marina.
