Hedland’s most popular carnival returns to Town Oval next month with all your favourite attractions and some new events sure to please people of all ages.
The Town of Port Hedland will host the return of the Spinifex Spree Carnival on Friday 24 July (5:00pm–10:00pm) and Saturday 25 July (11:00am–10:00pm).
Spinifex Spree is the Town’s largest free community event and is expected to attract more than 10,000 attendees across the two-day program.
The event will feature amusement rides, live entertainment, Eat Street and a community marketplace, showcasing local businesses, performers and community groups.
A key attraction for 2026 is The Bubble Canteen, a large-scale interactive installation capable of producing up to 20,000 bubbles per minute.
New this year, a Quiet Hour will be delivered on Saturday from 11:00am to 12:00pm, offering a low sensory environment with reduced noise and lighting to support accessibility and inclusion.
Mayor Jacinta Behrend said Spinifex Spree continued to play an important role in bringing the community together.
"Spinifex Spree has been a part of life in Hedland for as long as I can remember."
"I have great memories of attending as a child, and now I get to experience that same excitement through the eyes of my own children. There's something really special about seeing generations of Hedland families creating memories together at an event that has become such an important part of our community calendar."
"Each year Spinifex Spree brings our community together to celebrate everything that makes Hedland unique. It's not only a fantastic weekend of entertainment for residents and visitors, but also an opportunity for local businesses, performers and community organisations to showcase what they do and connect with thousands of people across our region."
The event is presented by the Town of Port Hedland, with BHP as Principal Partner, Horizon Power as Gold Sponsor, and support from QUBE and FuelFix.
BHP Port General Manager Dan Mossman said the partnership with the Town of Port Hedland was about supporting events that brought the community together and the carnival was a key part of the local calendar.
“Spinifex Spree is one of those weekends that really captures the spirit of Hedland, bringing people together to share experiences, celebrate local talent and enjoy everything the town has to offer,” Mr. Mossman said.
“These events create lasting memories for families, and we’re excited to support it again as part of our commitment to thriving, connected communities and ensuring Hedland remains a great place to live.”
Spinifex Spree has been held in Port Hedland since 1968 and provides ongoing opportunities for local businesses, community groups and performers.
