The Town of Port Hedland is pleased to announce the return of its successful career pathway program - Shape Your Future.
Successful applicants will receive hands-on experience, fully funded training and a pathway to rewarding careers in local government - empowering the next generation of skilled professionals in our vibrant community.
Shape Your Future aims to strengthen Port Hedland's workforce by investing in local talent, promoting diversity, and addressing skill needs in essential community services.
Domenica Marvelli, Senior Learning and Talent at the Town said the program is a launchpad for lifelong learning and a fantastic opportunity for people to kick start their careers.
“We are looking for curious, motivated and enthusiastic individuals, who are eager to learn and contribute to the vibrancy of our community.”
“Whether you’re a school leaver or wanting to try something different from your current role, these opportunities are designed to set you up for success and unlock your potential” she said.
The program's track record speaks for itself, with previous trainees achieving outstanding recognition.
Sophie Marlow, part of the 2025 Shape Your Future Program, and Sienna Bennett, part of the School Based Traineeship Program via Programmed, were recently announced as finalists at the WA Training Awards demonstrating their commitment to their roles and highlighting the initiative's success.
These successes underscore the program’s role in creating valuable career pathways, with many trainees securing permanent roles within the Town and beyond.
Available roles for 2026 include:
- Community Services Trainee (Certificate IV in Business Administration)
- Governance Trainee (Certificate IV in Business Administration)
- Finance Trainee (Certificate IV in Bookkeeping and Accounting)
- Horticultural Trainee (Certificate III in Horticulture)
- Sport and Recreation Trainee (Certificate III/IV in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation)
- Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice (Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology).
