The Town of Port Hedland is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Town of Port Hedland & BHP Community Sports Awards, celebrating the outstanding achievements and contributions of our local sporting champions.
Sport is at the heart of regional life - bringing people together, building healthier communities, and inspiring a sense of pride.
The Community Sports Awards honour the passionate individuals and teams who make sport in Hedland something truly special.
“These awards are a testament to the Hedland spirit, where sport unites us, builds resilience, and inspires excellence," Commissioner Martin Aldridge said.
"It’s my privilege to be able to represent the Town to acknowledged those who strengthen our Hedland community through sport.
“The passion in this community is incredible. These awards shine a spotlight on the everyday heroes of sport - from players and coaches to officials and volunteers.”
Olympian and former Perth Wildcats NBL star Shawn Redhage was a special guest at the awards event, sharing his inspirational story to an eager audience filled with Hedland’s next generation of athletes and sporting heroes.
2025 Award Winners
- Junior Sportsman of the Year – Aidan Wood, Soccer and Basketball
- Junior Sportswoman of the Year – Taylor Jackman, BMX
- Senior Sportsperson of the Year – Rebecca Amy, Touch Rugby
- Umpire/Official of the Year – Cath Widdup, Netball
- Coach of the Year – Dana Bell, Dance
- Volunteer of the Year – Stacey Jansen, Netball
- Service to Sport Award – Laura Hawes, Soccer
- Sporting Group of the Year – Port Hedland Netball Association
2025 Pilbara Regional Sports Awards
- Special Commendation in the category of Official of the Year - Cath Widdup
- Special Commendation in the category of Volunteer of the Year - Stacey Jansen
- Special Commendation in the category of Junior Sports Person of the Year - Taylor Jackman
