Community-Led, Town-Supported: Local Grants in Action

The Town of Port Hedland is proud to announce a diverse and inspiring group of recent recipients from its Community Grants Program, reflecting our commitment to supporting people, purpose, and place.

From grassroots sports and cultural events to youth engagement, inclusion and wellbeing initiatives, this latest round of funding highlights just how much passion and potential exists within our local community.

Some of the recently funded projects include:

  • Curtis Sands-Winmar – Representing Port Hedland in a Naitanui Academy Exhibition Game (Community Champions Grant)
  • Fair Game Australia – Delivering the South Hedland "Game On!" Hub for youth (Community Partnerships)
  • Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation – Supporting the Yule River On-Country Bush Meeting (Community Partnerships)
  • Port Hedland MMA – Hosting technical coaching sessions for adults and kids (Community Development)
  • Pilbara for Purpose Inc – Youth research workshops delivered in partnership with YACWA (Youth Inclusion & Empowerment)
  • PHLAGS Inc – Pilbara Pride Festival 2025 (Diversity & Inclusion)
  • IBN Corporation – NAIDOC 2025 Community Celebration (Cultural & Community Events)
  • Hedland Well Women’s Centre – The annual Pink Pilbara Breakfast (Health & Fundraising)
  • Desert Wave Records – NAIDOC Week music program supporting Aboriginal artists and community storytelling (Youth & Cultural Development)

These projects are made possible through categories including Community Partnerships, Champions, Placemaking, Sustainability, Home Safety, and Economic Development & Diversification.
