With just days to go, the Ship to Shore 2026 Community Fun Run is shaping up to be the largest yet, with already more than 1,000 registered runners, jogger and walkers.

The Town of Port Hedland, with support from the WA Government and premier partner, Pilbara Ports have come together for the fifth year to deliver this free, family friendly event, suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

The Ship to Shore Community Fun Run will start at 7.30am on Saturday, 8 August from the Spoilbank Marina.

Participants can choose to complete the standard 6km route, the 3km mini, or the more challenging 10km extended route.

Pilbara Ports Executive General Manager Marine, Phil Christy, said Pilbara Ports was proud to continue its partnership with the Town to deliver one of Port Hedland's most anticipated community events.

“We are proud to be a part of the communities in which we operate, and this is a great opportunity to bring the Port Hedland community together.” Mr Christy said.

“It’s a free, family friendly event, open to all fitness levels, and I encourage everyone to register and come along on the day.”

Town of Port Hedland Mayor Jacinta Behrend said the growing popularity of the event reflected the community's enthusiasm for getting active and connecting with others, and she would not only be at the event, but also participating in it.

"It's exciting to see Ship to Shore continue to grow, with this year's event already attracting record registrations," Mayor Behrend said.

"We'll be welcoming participants from across the region to experience everything Hedland has to offer. August is one of the best times of year to be outdoors in the Pilbara, and the fun run provides a fantastic opportunity to enjoy our stunning coastline while being part of a great community event."

Free, online registrations are still open until 7:00pm Friday 7 August, via the Town of Port Hedland website here.

There will also be a range of family-friendly activities and attractions at the finish line, ensuring a fun-filled morning for the whole community.
