Residents now have access to new outdoor fitness equipment following the completion of works as part of the Town of Port Hedland's 2025/26 Annual Playground Renewal Program.
Installed at the corner of Sutherland Street, adjacent to the Gratwick Aquatic Centre, the new exercise station provides a convenient and accessible space for community members to incorporate physical activity into their daily routines.
The location was selected to maximise visibility, accessibility and community use, replacing equipment previously located on Forrest Circle in South Hedland. The former site experienced low patronage and was impacted by ongoing vandalism and misuse, prompting the relocation to a more suitable and highly frequented area.
The installation was completed in June 2026 by contractor Active Discovery and forms part of the Town's ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing recreational infrastructure across the municipality.
The project was delivered alongside the renewal of additional exercise nodes located along Forrest Circle and Murdoch Drive in South Hedland, ensuring residents continue to have access to safe, modern and functional outdoor fitness facilities.
Community members are encouraged to visit the new facility and make the most of the refreshed outdoor exercise equipment.
