The Town of Port Hedland is proud to celebrate a major achievement for the Matt Dann Theatre & Cinema, which has been named one of just three finalists for CircuitWest’s prestigious Presenter of the Year Award.
The recognition is a significant milestone for the venue and reflects the dedication, passion and hard work of the team and partners who bring high-quality arts and cultural experiences to the Hedland community.
The Presenter of the Year Award recognises organisations that demonstrate leadership within their communities, curate outstanding arts experiences and create meaningful opportunities for people to connect through arts and culture. Being selected as a finalist places the Matt Dann Theatre & Cinema among the leading regional presenters in Western Australia.
Over the years, the venue has welcomed a diverse range of touring productions, community performances, cinema experiences and cultural events, ensuring local residents can enjoy quality entertainment without leaving the Pilbara. This finalist recognition highlights the important role the theatre plays in enriching community life and strengthening connections through the arts.
Adding to this achievement, the Matt Dann Theatre & Cinema was recently selected as one of only four venues across Western Australia to participate in CircuitWest’s Audience Development Strategy Initiative. The program supports regional venues to grow First Nations audiences, strengthen community engagement and enhance access to performing arts experiences, further reinforcing the venue’s reputation as a leader in regional arts presentation.
The recognition also reflects the strong support of partners and sponsors, including BHP, whose ongoing investment helps bring a diverse range of performances and events to the community. These partnerships play a vital role in ensuring local residents continue to have access to quality arts and entertainment experiences close to home.
