The Hedland community is being encouraged to stand shoulder‑to‑shoulder against family and domestic violence at the annual Hedland Says No event on Wednesday 6 May 2026.

Running from 3.00pm to 5.00pm at the South Hedland Town Square, the event will bring together residents, services, and local leaders in a shared commitment to safety, respect and change.

Hedland Says No is delivered by the Hedland Family Violence Action Group (HFVAG), a grassroots network of local organisations working collaboratively to prevent and address family and domestic violence through advocacy, awareness and community action.

Town of Port Hedland Mayor Jacinta Behrend said preventing family and domestic violence is about building respect, connection and safety across the community.

“When our community stands together, we create safer spaces for everyone.”

“This event is not only about raising awareness - but about supporting change and building a stronger, safer Hedland for all.”

The event will include a community march, a free BBQ, guest speakers and family‑friendly activities, while providing time to reflect and reinforcing the importance of ongoing action to keep our community safe.

The Town of Port Hedland continues to work alongside community groups and service providers to strengthen prevention, improve support pathways and promote wellbeing across the community.
