The Town of Port Hedland is inviting the community to come together and celebrate cultural diversity this Harmony Week with a free, family‑friendly community event.
Held as part of Harmony Week celebrations from 17 to 23 March, Harmony Week in Hedland will take place on Friday 20 March 2026, from 6pm to 8pm at the JD Hardie Youth & Community Hub. The event will showcase cultural performances, food, art, music and interactive activities that reflect the rich diversity of the Port Hedland community.
Manager of Youth and Community Development Anna Savill said Harmony Week was an important opportunity to celebrate inclusion, respect and belonging.
“Harmony Week in Hedland recognises and celebrates the strength we gain from our diverse community. People from many cultures, languages and walks of life call Hedland home, and it’s this richness of experience that makes our town vibrant, welcoming and resilient. It’s a chance to come together, share our stories, and recognise how our differences make us stronger.”
The event aligns with the Act, Belong, Commit message, encouraging people to stay mentally healthy by staying active, connected, and involved in their community and is proudly supported by Pilbara Community Legal Service.
Community events like Harmony Week play an important role in strengthening social connections and fostering a sense of belonging.
Community members are encouraged to wear traditional cultural clothing and take part in the celebrations, which are free and open to everyone.
Harmony Week is a national celebration of Australia’s multiculturalism and promotes the message that everyone belongs.
