Halloween in Hedland a frightfully good success

Hedland embraced the Halloween spirit in a big way this year, with approximately 1,900 people turning out for the Halloween in Hedland at the JD Hardie Youth and Community Hub on Saturday, 31 October.

The free community event transformed the Hub into a Halloween precinct for one night, attracting families, children, teenagers and adults for four hours of costumes, activities, food and plenty of scares.

One of the biggest drawcards of the night was the 3D Zombie Apocalypse Horror Maze, featuring live scare actors and a more intense experience later in the evening.

The event was designed with two different scare levels to give more of the community an opportunity to take part. Little Scary provided a family-friendly experience from 4pm to 6pm, before Really Scary turned up the fright factor from 6pm to 8pm.

Beyond the maze, the event included trick-or-treat experiences, Halloween activities, costume prizes, themed food and entertainment, with a dedicated Sensory Zone also providing a quieter, low stimulation space for community members who needed a break from the activity.

The strong turnout helped achieve one of the key aims behind Halloween in Hedland: bringing people together while showcasing the JD Hardie Youth and Community Hub as a vibrant and welcoming community space.

The Town of Port Hedland thanks the many staff and teams who worked together behind the scenes and on the night to help deliver the event.

Community feedback is still open, and anyone who attended Halloween in Hedland is encouraged to complete the short survey for the chance to win a $100 gift card.

The survey closes 11.59pm AWST, Sunday 8 November 2026.
