Community members of all ages and abilities enjoyed a day of fishing, connection and inclusion at Fishability's recent "Have a Go Day" at the Spoilbank Marina in Port Hedland.
The special one-off event gave participants the opportunity to experience the joy of fishing in a welcoming and supportive environment, while also helping gauge local interest in establishing an ongoing Fishability program in Port Hedland.
The success of the day was made possible through the support of many local organisations and volunteers, including Fishability, Volunteer WA, King Kira, Kennards Hire, Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation, Strelley Community School, EPIC, Hedland Fishing Club, IBN Corporation and the Town of Port Hedland.
Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and contributed to making the day such a positive and inclusive community event.
If you're passionate about community inclusion and interested in volunteering with Fishability, we'd love to hear from you. Contact the Town of Port Hedland's Community Engagement team to learn more about future opportunities.
