Last week, the Town of Port Hedland welcomed over 300 people to a series of free, Harry Potter-themed events as part of the Town’s school holiday programming.

Delivered by the passionate staff at Hedland Libraries and the Matt Dann Theatre, people of all ages attended the free movie screening of The Philosophers Stone on the Thursday night, followed by a Harry Potter trivia event on the Sunday evening at the Esplanade Hotel.

Both spaces were completely transformed into a Hogwarts wonderland, with young attendees dressed as their favourite characters.

The trivia night was hosted by best-selling children’s author and entertainer, Andy Jones, who bought the fun, the energy, the magic – and a whole load of laughs.

Mayor Peter Carter said the events reflected the Town’s ongoing commitment to creating a thriving and inclusive community.

“Creating opportunities for families to come together and engage in free and fun experiences is essential to a thriving community.”

“These events demonstrate how thoughtful, unique programming can strengthen the social fabric of our town” he said.
