The North West Junior Football Championships brought together over 250 young players from Karratha, Newman, Tom Price, Broome, and of course our own Hedland stars, for two unforgettable days of football.
The championship was a showcase of our region’s youth talent and a powerful reminder of the resilience, diversity, and pride that makes the North West strong.
It fostered friendships, teamwork, and unforgettable memories that will last well beyond the final whistle.
Proudly supported by the Town of Port Hedland through our Community Partnerships Grant Program, we’re proud to support local events that:
- Bring people of all backgrounds together;
- Create inclusive opportunities for young people, including Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and culturally diverse players;
- Build the capacity of local clubs, coaches, and volunteers; and
- Strengthen the social and economic fabric of our town.
With over 500 people visiting Port Hedland over the WA Day long weekend, the event gave a great boost to our local cafés, restaurants, accommodation providers and small businesses — but its impact ran even deeper.
Supported by Football West, this event facilitated the building of long-term community capacity through training, coaching development, and pathways for young players in the region.
A huge shoutout to Football West, Hedland Junior Soccer Association, all the amazing volunteers, sponsors and other community supporters.
