The Hedland Sustainable Living Show Day returns this June, bringing the community together for a vibrant celebration of sustainable living, learning and local action.

Presented by Care for Hedland and supported by principal show day partner Northern Star Resources, along with the Town of Port Hedland, BHP, Hedland Down to Earth and PLS, this year’s Show Day promises to be bigger and better, offering an inspiring program of information, workshops and activities for all.

Joining the lineup this year is Costa Georgiadis, the much‑loved host of ABC’s Gardening Australia. Known for his infectious energy and all‑consuming passion for plants and people, Costa takes great pleasure in bringing people together and connecting through nature.

Town of Port Hedland Mayor, Jacinta Behrend said the show day highlights the power of partnership between community, industry and local government in building a greener, more resilient Hedland.

“The Hedland Sustainable Living Show Day is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together, learn from experts and take practical steps towards a more sustainable future that reflects our unique Pilbara environment”, said Mayor Behrend.

Joining Costa is Andrea Whitely, the ‘garden whisperer’ and trusted garden consultant. Andrea will be offering practical, down‑to‑earth advice for keen gardeners, focusing on the unique climate and environment of Port Hedland.

The event will also welcome back Johnny Prefumo, also known as WA’s own 'frog doctor'. Johnny will be sharing his knowledge on protecting native frogs, biodiversity and urban habitats.

Across the day, attendees can take part in hands‑on workshops, hear from local and visiting sustainability champions, and explore a wide range of information stalls showcasing waste reduction, water‑wise gardening, energy efficiency and environmentally conscious living.

Kelly Howlett, Operations Manager at Care for Hedland said the 2026 event was all about giving the community practical and achievable skills to live a more sustainable life.

“Even with Hedland’s unique climate and conditions, there are many simple, low-cost ways and choices everyone can make to provide a real and lasting difference for our environment”, said Ms Howlett.

Jim Coxon, Executive General Manager at Northern Star Resources (Pilbara Operations) said the organisation is proud to support Care for Hedland and their important work in environmental conservation across the Pilbara.

“Northern Star Resources is committed to supporting community organisations who are striving to better their regions.”

“Raising awareness and educating future generations sits at the heart of Care for Hedland's great work." Mr Coxon said.

Adding to the fun, 20 mango trees will be given away each hour to attendees, a much‑loved giveaway that has sold out quickly at past events.

The 2026 Hedland Sustainable Living Show Day is proudly supported by a strong network of partners and sponsors who share a commitment to building a more sustainable future for the Pilbara.

The Sustainable Living Show Day will be held on Saturday 6 June from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the Civic Centre Gardens in Port Hedland. More details, such as Costa's gardening workshops, guest speakers and event programming will be announced over the coming weeks
