We're waiving hiring and booking fees in August for South Hedland Town Square, so that community groups and businesses like yours can help us bring Wise Terrace to life.
If you've got an idea to try something new that Hedland hasn't seen before, now's your chance to try it out.
We'll be making a calendar of events to let the community know what's going on at Wise Terrace during the month.
It's about making Wise Terrace more welcoming, comfy and lively for all.

what's happening?
We’re closing Wise Terrace from July to September 2022 so that we can see how it goes when the the space is closed to traffic. This is part of the Town’s delivery of the South Hedland Place Plan.
In August, Wise Terrace will come to life with lots of fun activities, events stalls and more.
what is placemaking?
Placemaking is about the community shaping how public spaces are created. It's about putting you in the driving seat, moving away from a 'top down' approach from government and authorities telling you how spaces should be made.
what is the south hedland place plan?
The South Hedland Place Plan was endorsed by Council in February 2022, guiding the Town to do the following:
- Establish a South Hedland Town Team
- Bring Wise Terrace to Life
- Focus on security and safety
- Promote local creatives and hospitality
- Deliver cultural wayfinding and public art
- Improve pedestrian connectivity and greenery
