The Ship to Shore Community Fun Run is racing back to Hedland this August at a new
location and with a new distance option.
The Town of Port Hedland with support from the WA Government and premier partner,
Pilbara Ports, have come together for the fourth year to deliver this free, family friendly
event, suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
For the first time, Ship to Shore will start from the newly opened Spoilbank Marina. The
regular 6km and 3km options will return, however a 10km option will also be available for
more advanced runners.
The Ship to Shore Community Fun Run will start at 7.30am on Saturday, 9 August.
Pilbara Ports Executive General Manager Marine, Phil Christy, said they were delighted to
be partnering up again to deliver this year’s run.
“We are proud to be a part of the communities in which we operate, and this is a great
opportunity to bring the Port Hedland community together.” Mr Christy said.
“It’s a free, family friendly event, open to all fitness levels, and I encourage everyone to
register and come along on the day.”
Town of Port Hedland Mayor Peter Carter said the Town was committed to providing a
wide range of events for the whole community to enjoy.
“It’ll be the first time we host an event of this kind at the Spoilbank Marina and we hope to
see runners from all over make their way to the event,” Mr Carter said.
“August is a beautiful time of year in the Pilbara and this run showcases our iconic
coastline.”

a barbecue breakfast, and a mini-run for young children.
