The Town of Port Hedland welcomes a $5 million funding commitment from the State Government through the Regional Housing Support Fund, providing a significant boost to the Town's Key Worker Housing project on Cottier Drive.
The funding will support delivery of the project, which aims to increase the availability of quality housing for key workers and strengthen the long-term sustainability for our community.
The Town acknowledges the support of Minister for Housing and Works, John Carey MLA and Member for Pilbara, Kevin Michel MLA, whose ongoing advocacy and commitment to addressing regional housing challenges has helped progress the project.
Mayor Jacinta Behrend said the funding commitment was a strong vote of confidence in the future of Port Hedland and the importance of increasing housing supply across the region.

The Key Worker Housing project, developed, and project managed by the Town of Port Hedland is worth a total of $40 million.
The project has received support from a range of partners, including $10 million from BHP, $4.5 million through the Infrastructure Development Fund, $3 million from the Hedland Maritime Initiative, and now $5 million through the Regional Housing Support Fund.
The investment reflects a shared commitment between government and industry to increase housing supply, support workforce attraction and retention, and ensure Hedland remains a thriving and liveable regional centre.
