Forging connections with Shire of Broome

The Shire of Broome’s President Chris Mitchell, Elected Members, Chief Executive Sam Mastrolembo and some of his team came to visit us at the Town last week.

It was a fantastic opportunity for creating stronger connections, sharing information and looking at ways we can collaborate further.

The Broome team came to Hedland with a list of things they wanted to see or know more about, recognising the Town has delivered a range of projects and services, and have a number being actively planned that contribute to increasing liveability in the community.

We were able to show them our current aquatic facilities, and the Spoilbank Marina, talk through our plans to create more childcare capacity, view the site where we anticipate service worker accommodation to be built, and look at JD Hardie, The Depot, our animal management facility, and the landfill.

Pilbara Ports and the Port Hedland Seafarers Centre hosted the visitors on a port tour and a trip up the port tower.

The Town’s interim Chief Executive Officer, Mark Dacombe said: “The feedback I got from the Broome team indicates they found the trip really useful and insightful and went away feeling very well informed, and with their heads full of new ideas. My team also benefited from the chance to exchange ideas with the visitors too.”
