On Saturday night, 149 people gathered for a special event that blended live performance, storytelling, and cinema into one powerful experience.
The event was held at the Matt Dann Theatre & Cinema and began with the bold sounds of the Hedland Tongan Brass Band, followed by a moving Siva – a traditional Samoan dance filled with grace and pride. The audience was invited to take part in Mili Mili Patia, a rhythmic chant performed both on stage and in the foyer, creating a shared moment of cultural connection.
After the live performances, the lights dimmed for the screening of TINĀ – a heartfelt film about a Samoan teacher navigating personal loss and rediscovering her purpose through music and community.
Delicious food, meaningful performances, and a strong sense of togetherness made this one-night-only event truly memorable.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped bring this cultural celebration to life.
