Port Hedland Leisure Set to Build on a Strong Legacy

Published on Friday, 26 April 2019 at 9:05:47 AM

The Town of Port Hedland will take over the management and operations of Wanangkura Stadium, South Hedland Aquatic Centre and Gratwick Aquatic Centre next Monday 29 April.

YMCA WA has been contracted to manage the facilities since 2003, providing a high standard of health and fitness services to the Hedland community.

“First and foremost, I would like to thank YMCA WA for providing high quality and engaging leisure services to the Hedland community over the last decade.

“They have offered a strong roster of health and fitness programming, which has contributed to the liveability of our town."

Mayor Camilo Blanco said the transition from YMCA WA to the Town would prioritise minimal disruption to members.

“We are prioritising a smooth transition which only improves the customer and membership experience of members, as well as finding new and innovative ways to exceed expectations.

“We’re also motivated to build on the YMCA WA’s strong networks in the community, working constructively with stakeholders to spotlight health and wellbeing.”
