A special night out at Matt Dann Theatre & Cinema

As the sun sets on our season for 2025, it’s time to gather at our favourite theatre, where the red dust of our town meets a world of stories and imagination, the Matt Dann Theatre & Cinema. This week, we’re bringing you Dreams of a Lonely Planet, a live show that’s perfect for a fun and exciting family adventure.

Imagine a young lad, staring up at our big Pilbara sky, dreaming of a place that’s all his own. In Dreams of a Lonely Planet, the clever folks from Flying Bicycle Collective tell his story through dance, shadow puppets, and tales that feel like a cozy yarn under the stars. You’ll see blanket forts, fishing for stars, and a burst of colour that’ll have the kids (and the grown-ups!) grinning ear to ear. It’s pitched for ages 4 to 12, but honestly, anyone who’s ever wished on a star will love it.

This is what Matt Dann is all about: bringing us together. Whether you’re a regular or it’s your first time stepping into our theatre, you’re in for a treat. It’s not just a show—it’s a chance to laugh, dream, and share a moment with your kids, friends and family.

The Town of Port Hedland is proud to keep the arts alive and thriving, actively supporting events and bringing a vibrant lineup of performances to the Matt Dann Theatre & Cinema throughout the year. We strive to bring a diverse mix of entertainment to our community. As we close out the year, we’re especially excited to bring a performance tailored for our youngest audiences, ensuring there’s something magical for everyone in our town.

The show starts at 10:30am on Saturday, 13 September, but the doors open at 9:00am for morning activities with the kids, including face painting, puppet making, and colouring in. It’s a morning of pure, unplugged fun that’ll remind you why our little theatre and cinema is something special.  Tickets for the Dreams of A Lonely Planet show can be purchased here:
