Published on Tuesday, 3 May 2022 at 1:07:14 PM

Applications for the Town’s Home Safety and Security Rebate Scheme (The Scheme) are now open to all households in the Port Hedland local government area, with eligible applicants able to claim 50% of the total cost of approved products up to a rebate value of $400.

Approved products include home alarm and CCTV systems (wireless and hardwired); security door screens; security window screens; security window shutters; security sensor lights and wi-fi video doorbells.

Products must be purchased from local suppliers within the Port Hedland local government area, supporting and strengthening the local small business community.

The Scheme delivers on goals outlined in the Town’s Community Safety Plan 2019-22, including that the community feels safe in their homes, neighbourhoods and public spaces.

The Scheme’s rebate form requires the upload of proof of address, receipt from purchase, receipt from installation, proof of system registration with CAM-MAP WA and proof of property ownership or consent from the property’s ratepayer.

Mayor Peter Carter encourages Hedland residents interested in strengthening their household’s security and peace of mind to apply for the Scheme.

“The Town’s Home Safety and Security Scheme is about giving local residents the choice to purchase the locally sourced products they prefer which strengthen their household’s security, providing financial support up to 50% of the purchase value.”

“The top concern uncovered in the latest annual perception survey was community safety, which is why Council is committed to providing financial support to bolster home security in the local government area.”

“Requiring the purchase of products from local suppliers as part of the scheme supports our local business community, job creation and vibrancy as a township.”

“Please be mindful that approved products for the Scheme must have been supplied and/or installed after Sunday 1 May 2022 and before Thursday 30 June 2022.”
